NEW BEDFORD — If you're one of the many people who leave their car running when they quickly go grab something from the store, you might want to beware opportunistic thieves.

A vehicle in New Bedford was stolen early this morning after the owner left it running during a quick stop at a South End store.

New Bedford Police spokesman Lt. Scott Carola confirmed that a vehicle was reported stolen outside of the Richdale Market at 951 Brock Ave. at around 5 a.m. Monday.

"When the owner exited, it was discovered that the vehicle had been stolen," Carola stated.

No further details about the incident have been released.

The theft remains under investigation.
