We've all been there: the laptop you've had for years starts giving you the spinning wheel of death. Surfing the web becomes more of a frustrating challenge instead of a way to pass time or meaningful search for information.

Or maybe your flat screen TV is outdated and isn't equipped with the apps you're looking to use to watch your favorite shows.

If simply throwing these items away in the trash doesn't feel quite right, there is an alternative for you. In anticipation of Earth Day, the Buttonwood Park Zoo is hosting an  E-Waste event in its parking lot on Saturday, April 19 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The zoo will be partnering with Data Recycling of New England to collect electronic items to repair and recycle them for a second life. There is a charge to dispose of some items, but there are also many items that you can get rid of for free.

It's also important to note that you will not need to buy a ticket to the zoo to participate. The recycling event is in the zoo's parking lot.

What a perfect opportunity to clean out your garage or basement and a relatively long list of items that will be accepted without charge.

That being said, there are some electronic items like TVs and monitors that will be accepted, however a charge will be associated with the drop off. Here is a list of the items and the amount of money that will be charged:

A warning, however, there are some items that are not accepted at all at this recycling event. Interestingly enough, artificial Christmas trees and lightbulbs are not accepted. Also, no gas, oil or anything containing mercury.
