NEW BEDFORD (WBSM) — A Bridgewater man was killed in an apparent homicide in New Bedford early this morning.

The Bristol County District Attorney’s Office said Nicholas Miller, 26, died of an apparent gunshot wound.

According to the D.A.’s Office, New Bedford Police responded to 911 calls at about 12:47 a.m. today regarding males fighting and an apparent gunshot in the area of 36 Acushnet Avenue.

First responders arrived and found Miller suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 2:42 a.m.

The investigation remains active and ongoing and is being conducted by Massachusetts State Police assigned to the D.A.’s Office, New Bedford Police and Homicide Unit prosecutors.
