If you are heading to the beaches this holiday weekend, I came across some important information that I thought I'd share.

Hopefully, you are planning to celebrate this long holiday weekend safely. If you are choosing to get out to some of our amazing beaches, please make sure you practice social distancing and wear your mask when you can't stay far enough apart.

I'm taking the week of the holiday off for some much-needed me time and I'm hoping that some of the New Bedford beaches will be pretty quiet after Labor Day.

I'm glad I stumbled on this information from the New Bedford Parks, Recreation and Beaches Facebook page.

According to a recent post, the New Bedford beaches will continue to be guarded through Labor Day. After that, it will be "swimming at our own risk."

If you are planning to hit up East Beach or Fort Taber they will have staff at those beaches through the holiday and then again the weekend of September 12-13. Those two will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the week through September 15.

Starting on September 15, legal parking will start up again on East Rodney French Blvd.

My hope is that these beaches aren't too busy. I have yet to visit a beach this summer so sneaking in a few hours to bury my feet in the sand would be nice.
