New Bedford Fashion Designer Brings Originality to Kilburn Mill with ACE93 Design

A new business has opened up shop in New Bedford’s Kilburn Mill and it’s breaking the rules on mainstream fashion ideology.

April Eaton has been a creator her entire life. With 15 years of experience in the fashion industry, she is excited to open her first brick and mortar with ACE93 Design and design clothes that fit the client. Not the other way around.

Who is April Eaton?

“Growing up, I would go shopping and have a specific vision for what I wanted, but could never find it, so I decided to start making things myself,” said Eaton.

Her passion for fashion blossomed as a kid when her mother taught her how to sew.

“She cleaned out her linen closet and I started practicing with those,” said Eaton. “I made a purse and then from there, I was making my own prom and homecoming dresses.”

She even made her own wedding dress and after-party dress.

Throughout her life, Eaton has had many passions that have fueled her creativity. She currently owns a martial arts school with her husband in New Bedford called SouthCoast Self Defense and she spent many years training, fighting, and designing her own fight outfits.

Now, with a little push from her husband, she is ready to focus on her own brand and start designing clothes that bring peoples’ personality to life.

What to Expect at AC93 Designs

When you visit ACE93 Designs, you’ll never be classified as a “size”. Eveyrthing will be done by measurements.

“I have so many frustrations with the fashion industry,” she said. “Vanity sizing is ridiculous. I like making people feel good about themselves in the body they are in right now, so I create fashion to cater to the person.”

Eaton views her take on fashion as a “middle finger to the industry and fast fashion.” Her goal is to show people that thrifting and altering is the way to go.

Eaton specializes in alterations and custom formal wear. ACE93 Design is currently appointment based, but people are encouraged to stop in on Saturdays from 10 am to 3 pm on the third floor of the Kilburn Mill.
