Nantucket Welcomes Jay-Z’s Jet as It Touches Down Just 50 Miles From New Bedford
Rapper and entrepreneur Jay-Z’s private jet made a grand entrance on Nantucket Friday afternoon, having embarked on an approximately 180-mile journey from Republic Airport in Farmingdale, New York. According to an Instagram post from the account nantucketcurrent, Jay-Z's Gulfstream V, with its 14-seat configuration, touched down on the island to much speculation and excitement.
The big question on everyone's mind: Was Jay-Z himself aboard? While it remains unclear whether the music mogul or his equally famous wife, Beyoncé, were present, the arrival of such a high-profile jet has certainly stirred the waters. It's worth noting that business jet owners frequently lease out their aircraft when not in personal use, meaning the passengers could be anyone.
Nantucketcurrent also mentions that this particular Gulfstream V, constructed in 2000 and given a stylish refurbishment in 2018, boasts impressive capabilities. With a cruising speed of 548 miles per hour and a range of up to 6,600 nautical miles nonstop, it’s a testament to luxury and efficiency in the skies. As of now, the jet is comfortably parked in the Runway 6/24 overflow parking area.
Nantucket locals and fans alike are buzzing with the possibility that Jay-Z and Beyoncé might be enjoying a summer getaway on the island. And for those in New Bedford, the excitement is clear, knowing that the superstar couple is just 50 miles away. Or perhaps just himself or maybe even just a guest renting out the aircraft. Again, it's not yet confirmed if he or they are actually on the island.
Although, it would be pretty cool.
