What you're about to read is a strange story that you simply can't make up.

In an unusual twist of events, Nantucket Memorial Airport manager Noah Karberg fell victim to a bizarre robbery on Sunday, August 4th, when a seagull swooped down and stole his wallet. The incident took place at the mid-island Stop & Shop, near the Mid-Island Gas station.

Karberg recounted the unusual theft to Nantucket Current, explaining that he was shopping when the sneaky seagull made its move right when Karberg placed his wallet in the shopping cart.

Despite the unexpected nature of the theft, Karberg is offering a generous reward for the return of his belongings claiming that they can keep the remaining cash inside (if the seagull didn't help itself first) and will even throw in an additional $100 reward if returned. He's only worried about getting his bank cards and license back.

Nantucket Police have taken the incident seriously, assigning multiple detectives to track down the feathered felon. They've asked the community to keep a keen eye out for the wallet and to also be careful and self-aware in case of any similar future incidents.

As the summer season continues, visitors to Nantucket are advised to keep a close watch on their belongings, lest they fall prey to the island’s increasingly audacious seagulls. In the meantime, the search for Karberg's wallet – and the elusive seagull – goes on.
