My Brother’s Keeper in Dartmouth to Host No-Contact Food Drive

My Brother’s Keeper has been in the Dartmouth area for a few years now. The organization is on a mission to “Bring the Love and Hope of Jesus Christ to Those We Serve.” In line with that mission, My Brothers Keeper will hold a no-contact food drive on Saturday, June 20 from 9 to 11 am at their facility located at 1015 Reed Road in Dartmouth.

This “pop your trunk” event was organized to support the community while continuing to operate in a safe environment due to the COVID-19 pandemic. If you choose to donate to the food drive, please have all of the items stored in your trunk. When you arrive, please remain in your vehicle and open the trunk so that staff and volunteers can remove the donated non-perishable food items safely.

My Brother’s Keeper is looking for the following non-perishable food items:

• canned vegetables
• canned fruit
• tuna
• cereal
• pasta
• mac and cheese
• rice
• peanut butter

Other non-perishables will be accepted. Brand new groceries are ideal, but if you are cleaning out your pantry, please check the expiration dates to be sure that expired food (or close to expiration) is not donated by accident.

We spoke to a representative at My Brother’s Keeper who was happy to announce that the corporate partner, Mass Drive Insurance Group, is offering an incentive for members of the community to donate to the food drive. MassDrive will donate $5 for every non-perishable item donated, up to $5,000. "So please come out to support the ministry and help spread the word!"

The representative also stated that this event is particularly important to them as it serves to reconnect with the community after going so long without being able to work with volunteers as they have in the past.
