What Is the Bristol County Mosquito Control Project (BCMCP)?

The Bristol County Mosquito Control Project reduces mosquito populations through surveillance, water management, and biological and chemical controls.

The BCMCP works to serve Bristol County by suppressing both nuisance and disease-carrying mosquito populations.

What Is Adulticiding Season?

According to the CDC, Adulticides are types of insecticides used to kill adult mosquitoes.

Adulticiding season coincides with the emergence of many insects. As temperatures rise, bugs emerge, and so begins the buggy season.

Are Adulticides Harmful to Pets and Humans?

When used correctly, adulticides do not harm people, pets, or the environment, just the mosquitos.

“All of (our) methods are performed in an environmentally sensitive manner to minimize potential effects on people, wildlife, and the environment,” said the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources. “Commissioners live or work in the county and all decisions are made in a fiscally responsible manner.”

Residential Spray Requests

BCMCP will begin taking residential spray requests for adulticiding beginning on Tuesday, May 28th. Spraying is scheduled to begin on June 2nd.

To make a request, call 508-823-3253, fax 508-828-1868, or email requestbristolmcp@comcast.net. Include your last name, full address, and zip code.

Can I Be Excluded from the Pesticide Application?

Any residential property that wishes to be excluded from the spraying can complete an online form. Exclusion requests can be submitted at any time during the year and will go into effect 14 days from the date the request is made.
