Mission 22 Cornhole Tourney to Help Raise Awareness for Vets
Calling all cornhole champions and competitors: here's how you can help your country while enjoying an ice-cold beer with our local veterans and active military.
On Sunday, October 13, Mission 22's New Bedford team is taking over Buzzard's Bay Brewery in Westport.
I've been a proud member of the Mission 22 chapter for a few years now and believe me when I say that the simple act of just talking to someone who has served or is currently serving over a cold beer goes a long way.
This event not only means a lot to myself and the rest of the crew over at New Bedford's Mission 22, but to those who are currently battling the mental fight on the daily who simply need a lending ear to talk to.
Join us for a fun-filled "Sunday Funday" that begins at 11:30 a.m. and ends around 7 p.m. And we're looking for some of the best cornhole players in the area.
The cost to join the tournament is $50 per team that includes entry into the competition, or $100 will get you and your teammate two Mission 22 t-shirts and two free beer tickets (for those over the age of 21 only).
This will be a double-elimination cornhole tournament with standard boards and rules, all while benefiting Mission 22. Prizes will be given to top three finishing teams overall in the tournament.
Just a heads up for anyone looking to join the event, there are only a few tickets available, as the cut-off for the tournament will be at 100 teams.
This event is open to all ages, even though it is at a brewery; wristbands will be handed out to those who are 21-plus for the purchase of alcohol on the grounds of Buzzard's Bay Brewing. Anyone who is under the age of 21 can still participate in the tournament.
For those who are interested, get ready to play some cornhole on a fun-filled day with friends, veterans, and those currently serving as we continue to fight the war against PTSD and suicide.
