Popular SouthCoast Cafe Closing New Bedford Location
Tough news this morning for fans of Mirasol’s Cafe. The local SouthCoast cafe that made the ChiPPi famous has decided to close one of its locations.
The original location for Mirasol’s on Route 6 in Dartmouth and its newest location in Fairhaven will remain unchanged. However, Mirasol’s has decided to move on from its working waterfront location on Pier 3 in New Bedford.
Downtown coffee lovers were rocked by the news.
Why Mirasol’s Is Leaving New Bedford's Pier 3
The cafe explained the decision in a Facebook post Monday morning.
“After four wonderful summers, our seasonal New Bedford cafe will not be reopening for the upcoming 2026 summer season. We are incredibly grateful for the support, loyalty, and memories you have shared with us over the past four years," the post read. "Being part of the New Bedford community during the summer months has meant so much to our team, and we truly appreciate everyone who stopped by, brought friends, and made us part of their routines.”
What This Means for Pier 3 and Future Plans
The decision to not reopen Mirasol’s Cafe Express leaves The Black Whale, The Whale’s Tail Clam Bar, and Acushnet Creamery as the remaining businesses on Pier 3 in New Bedford.
What’s Next for Mirasol’s in New Bedford?
There is no word yet from Mirasol’s Cafe on whether it will look for a different location to replace the seasonal New Bedford spot. Mirasol’s typically opened for the season on Memorial Day weekend and closed after Labor Day.
Mirasol's passing on this year's contract opens up the prime location for something new.
