A mini horse rescued in Rhode Island is available for adoption and in need of a forever home.

The Rhode Island Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RISPCA) is trying to find a forever home for a six-year-old miniature stallion named 'Toy.'

'Toy' was brought to the RISPCA in conjunction with an animal cruelty investigation.

He did come in injured, having laminitis a condition related to the inflammation of the sensitive tissues inside the hoof.

Although the condition is very painful for the mini horse and has caused some temporary lameness, it is treatable and 'Toy' is currently being treated for his condition by a veterinarian.

He will need continued care on his road to recovery, so potential adopters will be responsible for this treatment.

Obviously only those serious about taking in this adorable mini horse should be reaching out to the RISPCA. They are hoping to find a permanent place for 'Toy' to call home and get the care he deserves.

If you think that may be your home or that of someone you know, you can contact Joe Warzycha with the RISPCA  at (401) 438-8150.

And if you cannot adopt 'Toy' but want to make a donation towards his veterinary care you can contact Toni Lautieri at toni@rispca.com.
