‘A Minecraft Movie’ Shenanigans Has This Mom Concerned
"CHICKEN JOCKEY!!!"
Two words that spark the worst movie theater etiquette I have ever seen.
If you're reading this and have no idea what "chicken jockey" means, you're not alone. Many (including parents) are wondering why this common phrase is causing such an uproar for moviegoers.
What Does "Chicken Jockey" Mean?
The phrase, uttered by Jack Black's character in A Minecraft Movie, refers to a beloved Minecraft creation in which a small zombie (resembling a baby Frankenstein) rides a chicken, similar to a jockey on a horse.
The fact that I've had to Google "what is a chicken jockey" multiple times says a lot.
I have a young son who enjoys Minecraft – the books, the games, the Legos – and he really wants to see the movie.
However, based on what I've seen online, I'm a bit hesitant to go with him. It's not the content I'm worried about, it's the reaction of the audience.

A Minecraft Movie Audiences Go Crazy
I don't want to spend the entire experience glancing over my should waiting for popcorn to be thrown.

Or anticipate a fellow moviegoer bringing in a live chicken.
I wish I was joking, but based on the video evidence, this could certainly happen.
Going to the Movies Should be Fun
Going to the movies is a popular pastime, one that I enjoy, especially with my kids. Grabbing a huge popcorn, watching the previews and staring at the giant screen makes for a great day.
I know I will soon be purchasing tickets for A Minecraft Movie and I will be holding my breath when I hear the words "chicken jockey."
