Middleboro’s Hideaway Restaurant Permanently Closing in April
One of Middleboro’s most beloved restaurants is closing its doors for good.
The Hideaway has been serving up classic fare for over 40 years. It was known for its prime rib, seafood, and especially its pizzas. There were always nightly specials that helped the hard-working, blue-collar residents of Middleboro save a few dollars while still being able to enjoy a night out.
The restaurant’s official Facebook page made the sad announcement on Friday, though, that the restaurant would be closing on April 10 and owners Damon and Joyce DesRosiers are retiring.
“With an abundance of mixed emotions, we are announcing our retirement,” the post read. “We thank our family, staff, and loyal customers for over 40 years of support. You will always be considered a part of the Hideaway family. Together we have created some unforgettable memories, built lifetime relationships and shared some laughs and tears along the way. We will surely miss many that have been there through the thick and thin with us.”

Followers of the restaurant's Facebook page likely had an inkling an announcement like this was coming, after on Thursday, the daily specials were posted to the page with the caption "TIIME TO USE UP THOSE GIFT CERTIFICATES."
The comments on the post announcing the restaurant's closure were overwhelmingly positive toward the DesRosiers and their impending retirement, despite how much the restaurant will be missed by its loyal patrons.
One of the most touching tributes, though, came in the form of a comment from one of the couple’s children, Katie Rand.
“Congratulations Mom and Dad! Your retirement is well deserved,” she wrote. “I will miss my ‘home cooked meals’ at the Hideaway, so you’ll just have to invite us over for dinner more. Thanks for everything and for working so hard for your family and your employees.”
And the DesRosiers responded with what is perhaps one of the best reasons of all to retire.
“Now we will have more time for our newest grandson when he arrives!” they wrote.
