
Middleboro Condo Fire Leaves One Dead, Several Injured
MIDDLEBORO (WBSM) — One person was killed and three people were taken to the hospital following a fire at a condominium complex in Middleboro this morning.
According to Middleboro Fire Chief Owen Thompson, the department responded at about 9:51 a.m. to 172 Ashley Lane for a report of a structure fire. The neighborhood is known as Ashley Place.
Heavy Flames Spread Across Multiple Condo Units
Fire crews arrived to find “heavy smoke and flames coming from the first and second floors of the attached condo building, at both the front and rear of the building. The fire had also extended to adjacent condo units,” Thompson said.
One Resident Killed, Others Injured in Morning Blaze
One adult was pronounced deceased at the scene. Their name has not been released. Two other residents and a firefighter were taken to a local hospital for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

The two adjacent buildings, which include four units, “sustained significant damages,” according to Thompson. He said residents are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
Investigators Examine Cause of Middleboro Condo Fire
The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation by the Middleboro Fire Department, Middleboro Police, the Massachusetts State Police Fire and Explosion Investigation Unit attached to the State Fire Marshal’s Office, and Massachusetts State Police Detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office.
