In a town like Mattapoisett, even a disruption at the local convenience store becomes headline news. That is why the town is buzzing about what is happening at the 7-Eleven on Route 6.

Why Is the Mattapoisett 7-Eleven Stripped Down to the Bare Bones?

It's a strange scene at the Mattapoisett 7-Eleven. We wondered if the store was being renovated or if it was being shut down permanently. The store shelves have been stripped bare, right down to nothing.

There were no 7-Eleven employees in the empty store, but there were Dunkin' workers.  If there are plans to remodel and stay open, they weren't apparent by the vacated store. The Dunkin' workers told us that 7-Eleven has left the building and they didn't believe they were ever coming back.

Will Mattapoisett Dunkin' Stay Open?

Mattapoisett residents were shocked to hear the news that their local convenience store is reportedly leaving town. The 7-Eleven is really the only place for milk, eggs, snacks and basic groceries in Mattapoisett. There is no real competition, and local residents wholeheartedly support it. That's why so many are so shocked to see the Dunkin' signs taped all over the building saying that 7-Eleven was gone.

Dunkin' employees told us that even though 7-Eleven has left the building, they expect to stay open both inside and at the drive-thru. One worker said he believes they had a few years left on a contract with 7-Eleven, which makes things awkward.

It was important to Dunkin', however, for the public to know that regardless of 7-Eleven's status, Dunkin' is still fully open for business.

What Does 7-Eleven Have to Say About This?

We reached out to a spokesperson at 7-Eleven to ask what was going on. If there are plans for renovations, when might they be complete? Inquiries by multiple media outlets have gone unanswered by the convenience store giant for days. We will update this story as we find out more.

Five Things We Love About Jeff Kinney and His Massachusetts Bookstore

He has sold over 300 million copies of his Diary of a Wimpy Kid series, yet author Jeff Kinney still lives a pretty lowkey life.
The husband and father of two is also a local bookstore owner, running an independent shop in Plainville, MA that is as unlikely as it's name.
