Massachusetts, Rhode Island Student Arson Watch Poster Contests
Students in Massachusetts interested in art and/or fire safety are encouraged to participate in the 2023 Arson Watch Reward Program Poster Contest.
The Massachusetts Property Insurance Underwriting Association (MPIUA) sponsors the annual contest.
This poster theme is "Fire Prevention – Everyone/Everyday."
MPIUA says, "A countywide contest is held for all students in grades 6-8. First and Second place county winners are chosen by an impartial panel of judges. All first place county winners are entered into the Massachusetts Statewide Contest. An award ceremony is held in honor of all county winners at which time three State winners are announced and presented with their awards."
The Rhode Island Joint Reinsurance Association (RIJRA) sponsors a similar contest in the Ocean State with slightly different rules.
RIJRA's contest "is held on two levels: Level 1 for 5th and 6th-grade students and level 2 for 7th and 8th-grade students. All public, private and parochial schools in Rhode Island are invited to participate.
"First, second, and third place winners are chosen at each level by an impartial panel of judges. An award ceremony is held in honor of all winning students."
There are specific rules and requirements for poster entries in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Cash prizes and trophies will be awarded to winners in all categories in both states.
Entries in both states must be submitted by March 13, 2023. The winners will be posted on the Arson Watch Reward Program website in June 2023.
If your school has not posted information about the contest, students can inquire at their guidance counselor or principal's office.
