Massachusetts’ Best Ice Cream Spots Highlighted in New Initiative
Settling the debate for the best ice cream destinations in Massachusetts just became much easier.
Governor Maura Healey has announced the launch of a new sweet initiative highlighting multiple ice cream spots deemed some of the best in the Bay State.
With temperatures rising and occasional heat waves throughout the summer, a guide to finding the best ice cream spots seems necessary.
The Massachusetts Ice Cream Trail Initiative was created to celebrate the rich history of ice cream making and dairy farms, which are just two of the many things for which the Bay State is known.
Today, Massachusetts is home to 95 dairy farms that contribute over $61 million annually to the state economy.
"We are excited to launch the Massachusetts Ice Cream Trail, a delicious route that highlights the incredible diversity of our dairy farms and ice cream shops," Governor Healey said.
"Massachusetts has a vibrant agricultural sector that thrives thanks to the hardworking farmers who diligently support our communities," she said.
With over 100 destinations featured on the map, the ice cream trail will guide residents on their own tour, exploring different ice cream destinations brought to you by farmers and cows.
From beachside ice cream stands to year-round ice cream shops in Massachusetts, the ice cream trail has you covered with the best to visit.
Among the list are four local ice cream spots featured right here on the SouthCoast.
Acushnet Creamery in Acushnet, Annie's Ice Cream Shack in East Freetown, Annie's Ice Cream Shop in Marion and Joyful Scoops in Middleboro have been highlighted for their ice cream and their rich history within the community.
Many other ice cream shops await you on the complete list of shops on the ice cream trail.
