NEW BEDFORD - A vandal that trashed a North End convenience store displayed very odd behavior before causing a commotion.

Melissa Lawrence, assistant manager at the Cumberland Farms on Acushnet Avenue, tells WBSM News around 10:30 P.M. Wednesday night a Hispanic male walked up to one of the gas pumps, taking one of the nozzles in his hand and placing two bananas on top of the pump. The man then started dancing with the bananas in his hands before proceeding into the store.

Lawrence said the man made her feel uncomfortable, and she asked him multiple times to leave. She says the man shouted profanities and threw several of the store's displays onto the ground before fleeing on foot.

Nobody was injured.

New Bedford Police were called to the scene and they are investigating.
