After a season away with an injury, it looks like Malcolm Mitchell is officially done wearing a Patriots uniform.

With the arrival of Eric Decker at Patriots training camp, seems there wasn't room to keep all the current wide receivers on the New England roster.

And Malcolm Mitchell is the most recent to get cut.

According to Ian Rappaport, this was a move weeks in the making

His knee has apparently still been an issue, so the Patriots are moving on.

Mitchell was a rookie is 2016, catching 32 passes for 401 yards and making four touchdowns, but last year his injury kept him sidelined.

Rumor has it the team tried to trade him, but were unsuccessful.

That probably means the 25-year-old receivers NFL days are numbered, if not over completely.

Sad news for a player who showed a lot of promise out of the gate.

Training camp continues for the Patriots with their first pre-season game this Thursday (August 9th) at 7:30 p.m. against the Washington Redskins.
