Life can feel overwhelming sometimes, and that’s why one Bourne woman has made it her mission in life to spread joy through artful expression.

On Wednesday, August 9th, Lauren DeGregorio is set to host a day of free family fun with a Lego Build-Off Party at Buzzards Bay Park.

Who Is Lauren DeGregorio?

Lauren DeGregorio is a retired Pre-K teacher who has a passion for child enrichment. Unfortunately, she was forced to leave her passion behind, which resulted in the hardest mental battle of her life.

“I had to make the devastating decision to leave the childcare field for good,” she shared. “It was a really hard transition for me, paired with a lifelong mental illness, and I went into a dark spiral.”

At a time when she was supposed to start therapy and get her life back on track, the world shut down and the pandemic took over. DeGregorio decided to pursue art, simply because it brought her joy.

Through her mental health journey, she has found herself in a place where she wants to help others get through dark times.

“Over the past few years, I’ve been doing the arts and self-healing, but I still missed the kids,” she said.

Now, she combines her two loves, children and art, to spread joy and raise awareness about mental health.

Lego Build-Off and Face-Paint Party at Buzzards Bay Park

DeGregorio’s entire mission is to help people reignite their joy and help people see the correlation between mental health and artful expression.

“I’m now three years into my healing journey and am now in a place where I can help people,” she said. “I want to show people it can get better.”

On Wednesday, DeGregorio will host a day of fun at the park. There will be games, activities, a Lego building station, and tutorials on face painting.

All ages are welcome.

Now that DeGregorio is in a better place, she hopes to show the community’s children and their families that art and friendship can make the world feel less scary.
