Watch Jim Cantore React to Rare Thundersnow in Plymouth Once Again
It was an iconic viral moment back in 2015 when The Weather Channel's Jim Cantore first heard thundersnow while reporting live from Plymouth, MA.
Winter Storm Neptune dumped 12-20 inches of snow on eastern New England from February 14-15, 2015, but it was Cantore's reaction to the rare meteorological phenomenon that people across the country remember most about the snowstorm.
Now, 11 years later, Cantore is back in Plymouth for an epic storm and experiencing what seems to be his favorite weather occurrence of all time.
As Winter Storm Hernando was intensifying during the early morning hours of February 23, 2026, Cantore was stationed once again by the shoreline in Plymouth, MA clearly ready for more thundersnow.

Just moments after being asked about the potential for thunder and lightning during the snowstorm, the sky around Cantore lights up—and his reaction is instantaneous.
Though not nearly as excited as he was back in 2015, Cantore is clearly thrilled at the rare thundersnow capture and nearly slips before saying "Holy S-s-smokes."
At 62 years old, he also wasn't quite as quick to flop himself in a snowbank as he was 11 years ago either.

But even though the visibility is so much worse here in 2026, you can definitely still see Cantore's excitement at experiencing the same rare meteorological event in the same place over a decade apart.
According to the National Weather Service, Winter Storm Hernando had already brought wind gusts of 62 MPH to New Bedford, 83 MPH on Nantucket and 68 MPH in Newport as of 12 p.m. on Monday, February, 23.

Meteorologists expect the storm to continue until early evening on Monday night, with close to 30 inches of snow accumulation for some areas when everything ends.
We'll have to wait and see how much we get, but no matter how much Mother Nature leaves behind the SouthCoast knows how to enjoy it.
