Jackie Tavares of New Bedford’s Winslow School Named Fun 107 Teacher of the Month [VIDEO]

We paid a visit to the Betsey B. Winslow School today to award Ms. Jackie Tavares the Fun 107/Bank 5 Teacher of the Month. We decided to honor her after receiving a note from the parent of one of her students:

Ms. Tavares is so awesome because she pours her heart and soul into her classroom... My son has become a life long learner because of her, he cannot wait to see what she has in store for her next lesson. He strives to impress her and he is a better student because of her!

She goes above and beyond for her students and their families. Ms.Tavares gets to school at 7:00am every morning and leaves the building at 4:00pm most nights. Ms. Tavares' classroom is always open to her students even though the school day is 8:15 to 2:30 she has kids coming in everyday at 7:15 for extra help or to finish projects.

Ms. Tavares even coordinates events on the weekends for her students and invites their families as well; like going to plays, having pizza parties and she provides everything for these events. Her lessons in the classroom are innovative and keep all of her students involved and learning. She has brought in Authors and Divers in to speak to the class, I have never seen anything like it she literally lives to educate these young minds and she is doing it while having fun.

She truly goes above and beyond and she teaches from the heart and that is why her students and their parents value her and respect her passion for teaching. Please give this exceptional teacher the recognition she deserves!!

The children enjoyed an instant Domino's Pizza party, followed by dessert from Emma Jean's Cupcake Factory Ice Cream Shoppe and Candy House. Ms. Tavares was showered with flowers from Treeland, a plaque from Dartmouth Gifts and Engraving, and gift cards to the Ruby Room and A & A Jewelers, and dinner at the Pasta House from Hamel, Waxler, Allen and Collins.
