It's the season of carved pumpkins and the Franklin Park Zoo is getting in on the action with their Jack O'Lantern Journey.

The Jack O'Lantern Journey is open for the season and runs through November 4th.

So what is it all about?

It's thousands of hand-carved pumpkins set up throughout the zoo in a variety of themes.

There's glowing dinosaurs, an illuminated princess castle and of course animal scenes (it is the zoo after all). There's even a pumpkin amusement park set up with a crazy tall pumpkin filled ferris wheel.

And after you check out the thousands of elaborately carved pumpkins, you can watch a pumpkin carving demonstration or enjoy the food and drinks for sale during the event.

Tickets can be purchased ahead of your visit at the Franklin Park Zoo website at a variety of ticket prices.

Tickets are sold at timed intervals to keep crowds smaller and allow for guests to fully enjoy the pumpkin displays. And ticket prices reflect the prime time slots.

Jack O'Lantern Journey runs Wednesday through Sunday each week from now through November 5th starting each open night at dusk.
