If there was ever a good luck sign that 2021 is going to be a good year, it's this video right here.

On December 21, 2020, I turned 33 years young.

A few of my good friends surprised me with a small dinner over at the Airport Grille in New Bedford; unfortunately, we could only have a total of six people to adhere to the latest regulations put forth by Governor Charlie Baker. It wasn't much, but it was more than I could have asked for this year.

At the end of dinner, I was gifted with a second surprise: a cake that had 33 candles on it to represent my time spent here on this earth. Until that day, I had never witnessed so many candles lit up at once in my life. Talk about a spectacle.

The obligatory "Happy Birthday" was sung loud and proud for all to hear within the restaurant and as I closed my eyes to make a wish that I had thought long and hard about, the unthinkable occurred: every single candle blew out at once with just one breath.

Now, before you bombard me with the "that's not COVID-safe" comments, understand that the cake was just for me and no one else, so that's why I was comfortable with blowing out the candles. It was a specially-baked gluten-free cake that was absolutely delicious.

All 33 candles going out at once was definitely the icing on the cake (literally).

So, here's to a new year, a new beginning, and the start to something wonderful in hopes that my wish comes true. I'll let you know if it does; check back with me in a year.
