Navigating a large job and career fair can be overwhelming.  We want you to get the most out of your experience at the Bristol County Job & Career Expo and have used some tips from QuintCareers.com to get you there. Remember, job fairs can be very helpful tools in your job-search journey if you are prepared going into them.

Pre-Register for the Event:  We have an easy form for job seekers to fill out before the event. You can even upload your resume (in .pdf format).   After the show, we’ll send an e-file of resumes to our employers and recruiters.

Review the List of Attendees:  We’ve got a complete list of companies who’ll be on-site at the event. Make yourself a list of who you’d like to connect with. Take the time to research the companies ahead of time so you can ask specific questions about each.  After all, you’ll want to be prepared to answer the very basic interview question, “Why do you want to work here?” and save yourself the embarrassment of asking the recruited “What does your company do?”

Have a Strategy:  if you only have an hour or the whole day, a strategy will help you make the most of your time.  Know what types of industries and companies you want to connect with and skip the ones that do not interest you.

Perfect Your Elevator Pitch:  Your 30 second “About Me” speech should tell someone the unique benefits you have to offer. {DO WE HAVE A POST ON THIS?}

Use Your Manners:  When approaching a recruiter, be sure to not interrupt their current conversations; wait patiently.  Use the time to build a relationship with them but don’t monopolize their time.

Network:  Don’t miss the opportunity to network with everyone at the event- recruiters and fellow job seekers included!

Timing: Don't feel like you have to be the first one in line- employers will be on site from 2pm - 7pm.  Most folks will make an effort to get there right as the doors open, but this creates a giant crowd and a lot of lines. Choose your arrival time wisely!
