WESTPORT — Just in time for a beautiful beach day, Horseneck Beach in Westport has been reopened to swimmers.

The Massachusetts Department of Conservation & Recreation says the day-use area of Horseneck Beach State Reservation is open Thursday for normal hours of operation.

However, visitors are reminded to swim in the designated area at the beach, where lifeguards are stationed. Swimmers are advised to use caution after swimming was deemed off-limits on Wednesday due to high surf conditions and strong rip currents as Hurricane Chris churned hundreds of miles off the Massachusetts coast.

Gooseberry Island has reopened to swimmers as well.
