HGTV Names Two Quaint Towns Near the SouthCoast Most Charming in US
If there's one television network that knows all of the nooks and crannies of the United States, it has to be HGTV. Its popular shows and hosts spend each day visiting homes all over the country, giving them a chance to enjoy all the types of cities and small towns America has to offer.
Now, they're putting all of that travel to good use by naming the most charming small towns in the country.
Would it surprise you to find out that two of HGTV's 50 most charming small towns are a stone's throw from the SouthCoast? It's true.
HGTV has reserved spots for Nantucket and Bristol, Rhode Island, in their list.
I'd have to say, while Nantucket is clearly a luxurious vacation spot for the uber-wealthy, I'm not sure I'd use the word "charming" to describe the island. Charming is driving past the horses at Eastover Farm in Rochester, the shops in Plymouth on America's oldest street, or sunset at the Back Eddy in Westport. Charming is picking apples, gathering strawberries or cutting down your own Christmas tree at Keith's Farm. It's like a Hallmark Christmas movie come to life, for crying out loud.
Charming is not spending $1,500 a night at the White Elephant.
On the other hand, I couldn't agree more with HGTV's pick of Bristol, Rhode Island. While it's certainly an upscale location, it is still warm and welcoming. I love the way Bristol cherishes and embraces its rich American history. All you need to know is that Bristol hosts America's oldest continuous Fourth of July parade. Now that's charming!
Where would you say is the most charming spot on the SouthCoast?
