Why Healey and Other Politicians Love Pouring Pints in an Election Year
Part of being a politician is being accepted by the people you want to vote for you. Preaching policy isn't always enough. Sometimes you've got to get in the pool and swim with the folks to show you are one of them.
Healey Pouring Pints for the Tartan Army
Imagine Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey, who faces reelection in November, tilting beers behind the bar at The Haven, a Scottish restaurant in Jamaica Plain, last week, before Scotland's World Cup match against Morocco. She did it, and it was captured on video.
Boston.com reported, "Healey was spotted serving pints for members of Scotland's Tartan Army while declaring June 18 World Cup Fan Appreciation Day" in Massachusetts.
Such good craic!

Connecting at the Feast of the Blessed Sacrament
During her 2022 gubernatorial campaign, Healey stepped into a food booth at New Bedford's Feast of the Blessed Sacrament for 10 minutes to connect with the local Portuguese-American community.

The connection made, Healey did a boot-scoot for the exit, never to return to the Madeira Feast grounds after carrying the New Bedford vote. I bet she'll be back in July to reconnect with her Portuguese peeps. It's an election year, after all.
Camera-Ready Moments on the Campaign Trail
Who can forget Healey's sudden love affair with Dunkin' over Trump Administration criticism of sugar content in the Massachusetts-based company's popular drinks?
How many politicians come to New Bedford to pose with fishermen on City Pier each election cycle? Senator Elizabeth Warren did long enough to make a campaign commercial. Warren often uses props, such as beer bottles and dogs named Bailey, to prove she is one of us.
Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, also facing reelection in November, was channeling her inner Scot, too. Boston.com said Wu was spotted "pouring pints " on Friday at The Dubliner, an Irish pub in downtown Boston.
