The third installment of the Harry Potter films accompanied by live orchestral music is coming to the Providence Performing Arts Center this winter.

I remember going to the first of this series two years ago at PPAC and thinking I was just going to hear the music from Harry Potter played by the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra.

But when I got there I realized it was actually a night of watching one of the film's on a big screen in the PPAC theater while the RIPO played the soundtrack live throughout the entire thing.

It was amazing.

And every year they are doing it again.

Starting with the first film two years ago, this February 8, 2020 PPAC will be showing Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on a 40-foot high definition screen this time around.

And on stage with the movie will be the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra playing John Williams' film score live as the movie plays.

If you are a Harry Potter fan and haven't checked one of these out yet, do yourself a favor. It is simply an incredible way to watch the movies.

Of course these live film events have sold out very quickly in the past and most likely will again.

So if you really want to be there, be prepared for the on sale date Friday October 11 at 10 a.m. on ppacri.org.

This could also be a great way to get a jump of holiday shopping and treating the Potter fan in your life with a one-of-a-kind night at the movies.
