Hannoush Jewelers Owner Talks Taylor Swift Ring

When Andrew Silva caught the first glimpse of Taylor Swift's engagement ring, he was a little surprised. He instantly recognized it as an old mine cut diamond.

"We literally made an old mine cut last week at Hannoush Jewelers," Silva said. "This one wasn't set in yellow gold – it was in white gold – but it was an elongated old mine cushion with some small stones on the side. It's been a bit of a look for a while, and I expect this style to get pretty popular over the next year or so."

A spike in popularity is likely due to the fact that Swift's ring may be the most-viewed engagement ring online since the dawn of the internet.

We asked Silva how much he thought the ring was worth. He estimated it to be somewhere between $500,000 and $1.5 million.

"That cut of diamond is an old mine cut," Silva explained. "It gives the diamond a unique vintage look. It doesn't actually give the ring more sparkle or shine. In fact, it actually gives less, to be honest with you."

The value of Swift’s ring might not be in the sparkle. Silva speculated there may be some historical significance to the ring that’s driving the price into the millions.
