TAUNTON (WBSM) — A Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical High School student has won the 2024 Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship.

Jaelynn McAuliffe of Freetown, who attends Bristol-Plymouth in Taunton, competed in the Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship from June 17 to 19 in Orlando, Florida.

For two days, students from across the country competed to win scholarships, prizes, medals, trophies and certificates.

The historic win marks the first time a student from Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical High School has clinched the national championship, a feat that will see McAuliffe advance to the World Championship.

"On behalf of  Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical High School, I would like to congratulate Business and Applied Technologies student Jaelynn McAuliffe for this outstanding accomplishment," Superintendent-Director Dr. Alexandre Magalhaes said.

"This award speaks to Jaelynn's commitment to her technical program and to her drive as a student and as a leader in the Bristol Plymouth community," Magalhaes said.

McAuliffe, a Business and Applied Technologies student, was among the top scorers in Massachusetts on the Microsoft Specialist Certification exam's Fall Qualifier.

During the competition, she placed first in the Microsoft Word – Office 2019 category, advancing to the national round.

Bristol-Plymouth is a certified testing center that allows students to attain Microsoft certifications for free through Certiport.
