Heading out and about in Freetown this weekend? There's one area you may want to avoid.

The MassDOT has announced plans to close the Elm Street railroad crossing this weekend and are police are urging motorists to seek others routes.

After several delays in the project, DOT workers are finally going to be removing and replacing the existing track around Elm St this weekend. The project starts on Friday, so there will be three days of limited travel around the railroad crossing.

From 8 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Sunday it will be closed. Police will be on site to mitigate traffic issues, but they are asking drivers to choose other routes.
