Former Fall River Old Colony YMCA Staffer Under Investigation
FALL RIVER — A former employee at the Old Colony YMCA in Fall River is being investigated after allegations that they had supplied minors with controlled substances.
Fall River police spokesman Det. Sgt. Moses Pereira said the matter is under investigation, but noted that no criminal charges have been filed as of Friday morning.
Police had responded Thursday afternoon to an Old Colony Y location on North Main Street for the reported allegations, Pereira confirmed.
Vice President of Public Affairs at Old Colony Mike Ricci called the allegations "unfortunate," but said the organization could not give further comment due to the ongoing police investigation.
He added that "every party who needed to be notified" of the investigation "has been notified."
Police declined to say which controlled substance the former staffer is accused of supplying.
Alcohol is not legally considered as a controlled substance, although its sale is regulated.
It is unclear exactly when or why the staff member stopped working at the Old Colony YMCA.
