One of the biggest daytime talk show hosts of the '90s is visiting the SouthCoast and as long as you're over the age of 21 and have a valid ID, you can meet him for free.

Those who grew up watching Montel Williams are aware that he takes his show seriously. He never needed raunchy gimmicks to gain the love and trust of his viewership and his ratings were just as phenomenal as his personality.

From Sept. 30, 1991, to May 16, 2008, Williams welcomed his daytime viewers at the beginning of every episode and now it's Fairhaven's turn to do the same for him.

On Monday, April 11, Williams will join the team over at Bask Inc. on Pequod Road to promote his new marijuana product line, Inspire by Montel.

Back in 1991, Williams was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at the age of 43, which brought on severe pain and depression.

From 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., Williams will discuss how his battle with Relapsing-Remitting MS (RRMS) has been made easier with the use of marijuana.

Williams is a strong military advocate, having served in both the Marine Corps and the U.S. Navy. Since Bask is veteran-owned, he chose the company specifically as part of his country-wide tour.

"Bask will be his one and only stop on the SouthCoast and the only dispensary on the SouthCoast that will have his products," the company said in a statement. "We are also one of only two medical dispensaries in the state that will carry his products."

A local cannabis company out of Taunton called Freshly Baked was founded back in 2018 by Philip Smith and Jenny Roseman. Both Smith and Roseman are disabled veterans who are advocates, like Williams, for managing post-traumatic stress disorder with marijuana.

"Philip is an Iraq combat Marine and Jenny was a 9/11 first responder at the Pentagon while in the Air Force," the Taunton company says. "Motivated by their experience with cannabis, they aspired to start a company that could help others who suffer from PTSD."

To help and support local (and veteran-owned) businesses, Williams has teamed up with Freshly Baked to use his product line, rather than outsourcing from California.
