Five People Arrested After Traffic Stop and Apartment Search in New Bedford
NEW BEDFORD - Five people are arrested following a traffic stop and the subsequent search of an apartment in New Bedford on Monday.
New Bedford Police Department spokesman Lt. Ricard Rezendes tells WBSM News police conducted a traffic stop before 1:30 p.m. Monday. In the vehicle, police discovered a small amount of crack-cocaine.
Police arrested the three occupants of the vehicle and soon carried out a search warrant at an apartment connected to the individuals that had been arrested, and placed two more people under arrest at the Acushnet Apartments at 1566 Acushnet Avenue, Apt. 2N, after finding three grams of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.
All five individuals face a number of charges:
- Paola DaSilva, 38, of 33 Hawthorn St., Apt. 2, Springfield, MA
- Possession of a Class B drug
- Conspiracy to violate drug law
- Gerald Jacobs, 41, of 13 Antassawamock Road, Mattapoisett, MA
- Three outstanding warrants
- Possession of a Class B drug
- Conspiracy to violate drug law
- Crystal Stenquist, 39, of 1566 Acushnet Avenue, Apt. 2N, New Bedford, MA
- Possession of a Class B drug
- Mickey James Barrasso, 34, of 1566 Acushnet Avenue, Apt. 2N, New Bedford, MA
- Possession of a Class B drug
- Outstanding warrant
- Matthew John Calvao, 34, 1566 Acushnet Avenue, Apt. 2N, New Bedford, MA
- Possession of a Class B drug
- Distribution of a Class B drug
- Conspiracy to violate drug law
- Possession with intent to distribute a Class B drug
- Possession with intent to distribute a Class E drug
