A fire at a three-family home in Fall River displaced 15 people and turned up firearms and ammunition.

Firefighters battled a blaze at 78 Barre St in Fall River Saturday night that according to NBC 10 may have started on the third floor porch.

The fire was called in just before 5 p.m. and was under control by 5:15 p.m., but it did displace the 15 people living in the three-family residence.

Police tell WPRI 12 that firearms and ammunition were found in the second-floor apartment during the fire, though none were reportedly discharged as a result of the flames.

The firearms may be legal and the owner may have the proper permits, but that remains under investigation.

The cause of the fire is also under investigation and the Red Cross was assisting those family displaced by the blaze.
