Fall River Store Owner Found Shot Behind Counter
FALL RIVER — A Fall River convenience store owner has died after he was found shot behind the counter of his shop last night.
According to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office, a customer entered the Stop N Save at 201 Rock St. to buy food at around 10:30 p.m. Monday.
Instead, the customer found the shop owner/clerk behind the counter suffering from a gunshot wound with blood on his chest.
The customer called 911 and first responders took the victim, later identified as 54-year-old Fall River resident Lal Kishor Mahaseth, to Charlton Memorial Hospital.
He was pronounced dead at 11:14 p.m.
The D.A.'s office said state police are investigating the homicide along with Fall River Police and Homicide Unit prosecutors.
No further information will be released, as the investigation is "extremely active," the D.A.'s office said.
