FREETOWN — The victim of a fatal crash on Route 24 in Freetown early Tuesday morning has been identified as 49-year-old Robert St Ours of Fall River.

The Bristol County District Attorney's Office and state police said St Ours was alone in his 2010 Camry when it was involved in a single-car crash shortly after 3:10 a.m. today.

St Ours' car was found off the roadway after it had struck a tree on the right hand northbound side of Route 24 near the 12.2 mile marker.

The victim was rushed to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 4 a.m. on Tuesday, the D.A.'s office stated.

 

State police said troopers were assisted at the scene by Freetown police, fire crews, and EMS.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

 

According to state police, the scene was cleared by around 5 a.m.
