Fall River’s Shear Genius Gives Back with 9th Annual ‘Back 2 School Backpack Giveaway’

For nearly a decade, Shear Genius Barber Shop and Ms. Shear Genius Salon in Fall River have given back to the community and this year is no exception.

The popular Plymouth Avenue location, owned by Luis Gonsalves and wife Stacey Gonsalves, have become beacons of community support, especially for the city’s children.

Marking its ninth year, the annual Back 2 School Backpack Giveaway is set for Sunday, August 25, 9 a.m. to noon. This year, Shear Genius has partnered with Juice'd Cafe, Christopher's Eatery, True Dental, Funfotos2go and City of Refuge Church to provide free haircuts, tasty treats and complimentary backpacks to local boys and girls.

Families are encouraged to bring their kids (kindergarten to 12th grade_ to Shear Genius Barber Shop and Ms. Shear Genius Salon at 1475 Plymouth Ave. in Fall River. Haircuts and backpacks will be available on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last, with haircuts being offered until noon.

I will be on-site, providing music and entertainment from 10 a.m. to noon, on behalf of Fun 107's Michael and Maddie.

This event is open to the public and welcomes all families in need of fresh cuts and backpacks before the school year kicks off. With supplies limited, it’s recommended to arrive early to secure a spot and ensure your child is ready to head back to school with confidence.
