Fall River’s Duke’s Bakery Gets National Attention from Gluten-Free Star
This one goes out to the gluten-free foodies.
On Wednesday, August 21, Duke’s Bakery in Fall River welcomed a very special guest: social media influencer Phil Hates Gluten, famous for his gluten-free food reviews and no-nonsense approach to dietary restrictions.
With a big following on TikTok and Instagram, Phil has become a go-to voice for those living gluten-free. After being tagged in posts about Duke’s new menu items, he decided it was time to see the hype for himself.
Sampling the Goods, Not the Gauntlet
Phil didn’t tackle "The Gauntlet" challenge during his visit, but he made his way through a lineup of Duke’s brunch and bakery favorites. Owner Christine Holden said he tried dishes including:
- Eggs Benedict
- Chicken and Waffles
- The Meatball Sandwich
- The Duke’s Crispy Chicken
- Plus an assortment of muffins, brownies, and desserts
All of it, of course, gluten-free and dairy-free.
“He reached out to me on Instagram,” Holden shared. “I’ve been waiting for this moment. Off the record? I totally fangirled. He’s one of the biggest names in the gluten-free game.”
Phil filmed content during the visit, with his official video expected to drop next week. Even before that, Duke’s saw a surge of attention online after posting a single photo with him.
Duke’s on the Move
Duke’s isn’t slowing down anytime soon. Beyond the local buzz, the bakery will showcase its food truck at the Fitchburg Gluten-Free Expo and Mohegan Sun’s expo later this year.
For Holden, having Phil stop by marks another milestone in the bakery’s mission to make gluten-free (and dairy-free) dining flavorful, and accessible.

Still Time to Conquer The Gauntlet
Meanwhile, Duke’s gluten-free food challenge "The Gauntlet' remains unbeaten.

The feast includes:
- Four waffle sets
- One pound of tater tots
- One pound of fries
- Half a pound of meat
The first attempt fell short, leaving the record unclaimed. That means the crown is still up for grabs.
