Fairhaven’s Scramblers Deals With Damaged Sign But Remains Open Daily
If you’ve driven through Fairhaven's Sconticut Neck Plaza recently, you may have done a double-take. Where Scramblers’ well-known checkered flag sign once stood proudly above the storefront is now an empty space.
After two decades as one of Fairhaven’s most reliable breakfast and lunch spots, the sign suffered wind damage at the start of the month, and to the untrained eye, it might even look like the restaurant had closed.
Let’s clear that up right away: Scramblers Breakfast & Bagel is open. Seven days a week. Same hours. Same great classic breakfast. Same hot coffee.
A Little Wind Didn’t Stop the Eggs From Scramblin’
The fallen sign is currently being evaluated by a local sign company, which believes it’s repairable. There may be some rot behind the wall where the sign was, so they’re assessing the safest way to restore it without compromising the building. It’s a process, but it’s underway.
While the sign may be down temporarily, the grill is very much up and running.
A Holiday Tradition for People Who Still Have to Work
One of Scramblers’ quiet superpowers is that it is open 365 days out of the year.
The team closes only Thanksgiving afternoon and Christmas afternoon, making it a lifesaver for nurses, delivery drivers, retail workers, on-call pros and anyone else who still has to clock in on days most people sleep in. Fresh coffee, hot plates, and familiar faces go a long way when the rest of the world is at home.

A SouthCoast Morning Ritual
After finishing up The MGM Show, I often walk over to the neighboring restaurant for some grub, and I can tell you firsthand: Scramblers is more than a breakfast joint. It’s a reset button.

There’s something about sliding onto that tabletop bar seat, ordering my usual scrambled eggs with sausage and onions, slowly sipping of hot cup of java, and catching Let’s Make a Deal with Wayne Brady that just hits different. It’s that rare pocket of calm before diving back into the day.
It’s how I decompress after a long morning.
Support the Local Spots That Show Up Every Day
If you love Scramblers – or if you’ve been meaning to try it – now is a perfect time to stop in. Sometimes a small hiccup like a sign repair can unintentionally send the wrong message, and local businesses feel the ripple.
Swing in. Order your go-to. Try something new. Tip the team, and spread the word.
Scramblers has been serving the SouthCoast for over 20 years. A little wind won’t change that.
