UPDATE: Bristol County District Attorney Thomas M. Quinn III identified the two as Rafael Pedraza, 60, and Brenda Rosario, 51, both of Fairhaven.

FAIRHAVEN (WBSM) — An investigation is underway after two people were found dead in a home in Fairhaven Wednesday night.

Welfare Check Leads to Discovery

According to Fairhaven Police Chief Daniel M. Dorgan, the department received a request for a health and welfare check at a home on Jameson Street at about 7:03 p.m. on December 31.

Officers and members of the Fairhaven Fire Department arrived to find the home locked, but they were able to make entry. Inside the home, officers located two unresponsive individuals in a bedroom, a woman in her 50s and a man in his 60s.

Both were pronounced deceased at the scene. Their names have not yet been released and no further details were provided.

No Ongoing Threat to the Public

Dorgan said that based on the preliminary investigation, it is believed that this was an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the public.

Investigation Ongoing

The incident remains under investigation by Fairhaven Police and Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.
