The emergency maintenance repairs will start tonight, Tuesday, June 1.

NEW BEDFORD/FAIRHAVEN - The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) is announcing that it will be conducting emergency bridge joint repair operations on the New Bedford-Fairhaven Bridge located on U.S. Route 6. The work will take place from 8 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, June 1, through 4 a.m. on Wednesday, June 2.

The work will require temporary lane and shoulder closures. A minimum of one open travel lane will be maintained at all times on U.S. Route 6 eastbound and westbound.
Standard temporary traffic control measures will be utilized and will include the use of police details.

Drivers who are traveling through the affected areas should expect delays, reduce speed, and use caution. All scheduled work is weather dependent and/or may be impacted due to an emergency situation.
