FAIRHAVEN - A rambunctious party at a Fairhaven establishment prompted response from eight law enforcement agencies early Sunday morning.

Fairhaven Polic Sgt. Kevin Kobza tells WBSM News officers were called to an after-hours party being held in the function hall of Emma Jean's Restaurant at 111 Huttleston Avenue around 1 a.m. Sunday.

The restaurant is currently closed for restructuring. However, the function hall is available to rent.

When police arrived, they observed "over 400 people" inside of the function hall at EJ's. Sgt. Kobza says the hall has a maximum 160 person capacity.

Sgt. Kobza says police observed alcohol being served with minors present, with minors consuming alcohol. Police also saw marijuana being consumed inside of the building.

The Fairhaven Fire Department was called onto the scene. Fire officials attempted to shut down the party, but received no compliance from those in attendance.

Fairhaven Police called in assistance from Acushnet, Mattapoisett, New Bedford, Marion, Rochester, and Dartmouth Police, as well as State Police to help disperse the over 400 people in attendance.

Sgt. Kobza says as police were breaking up the party, several fights among those in attendance broke out. Police had to discharge pepper spray in order to put a stop to the fighting. One person was also tazed.

Police observed several known gang members from New Bedford at the party.

One individual, Marco Trinidad, 26, of New Bedford, was arrested at the scene.

Sgt. Kobza says the incident is being referred to the Town Administrator and the Board of Selectmen for further review.
