I'm sure many of you are like me and want to get rid of the old items in our possession when new items are given to us as gifts over the holidays. Coats are no exception. If you have a gently loved coat that you wish to give to someone in need, consider donating it to United Way of Greater Fall River. They collected 450 coats last year and are hoping to surpass that goal this year. They are also collecting winter weather accessories so that everyone in the community can have winter hats, scarves, gloves, and face shields.

All coats stay right here to help someone in our community stay warm.

We volunteered to sort through some of the donations on Thursday, December 19 and spoke to Meghan Rogers from United Way about the drive. She explained that although they are collecting winter coats for all, there are certain types and sizes they are in greater need of at the moment.

"We are in critical need of larger sizes like XL through 3X for both men and women. We could also use more baby and toddler coats, including bunting." - Meghan Rogers, United Way of Greater Fall River

The thing about baby clothes is that they grow out of them so quickly. You barely get through a single season with an article of clothing before they've moved on to the next size. If you no longer have use for that winter baby bunting or toddler jacket, bring it to the United Way of Greater Fall River located at 30 Bedford Street.
