Dartmouth Eats Up the Fun as Oscar Mayer’s Wienermobile Rolls into Town
On Thursday, July 11, an ordinary morning in Dartmouth turned extraordinary with the arrival of the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. By 10 a.m., the SouthCoast was buzzing with excitement as the iconic hot dog-shaped vehicle parked by the entrance of Shaw's on the New Bedford line.
The Wienermobile's appearance was a sight to behold.
Hundreds of locals gathered, eager for the chance to see, touch, and photograph the legendary vehicle. Among those gathered were me and Fun 107 news anchor Phil Devitt, both of us keen to capture this unique moment.
The atmosphere was electric, filled with laughter, excitement, and a sense of community.
Despite the long line, the wait was enjoyable thanks to the Oscar Mayer street team. They engaged the crowd with fun activities, including a dice game in which participants could win prizes and coupons. The anticipation built as everyone waited for their moment with the Wienermobile.
Finally, it was our turn. Phil and I donned giant hot dog and bacon cutouts, creating the perfect photo op. The Wienermobile, with its whimsical charm, did not disappoint. The sight of a gigantic frankfurter on wheels was surreal and delightful, making it an unforgettable experience.
As we posed for our photos, drivers slowed to glimpse the unusual sight. The Wienermobile had truly captivated the town, drawing attention and sparking joy among young and old alike. For several hours, countless photos were snapped, preserving the memories of this fun-filled day. The best part? Everyone who showed up in person received an official Oscar Mayer Wienermobile whistle.
After a few hours of delighting Dartmouth residents, the Wienermobile departed for its next destination in New Haven, Connecticut. Its visit left behind a trail of smiles and a unique experience that will be remembered fondly by all who were there.
