Dartmouth Teacher Encourages Special Interests for All Students
Mrs. Jennifer Alvanas is a first-grade teacher at Joseph DeMello Elementary School in Dartmouth. She was nominated by Jenn Miller, a parent whose son engages in learning with Mrs. Alvanas every single day.
“Every time we are in the car and hear about nominating a classroom teacher, my son always tells me we need to nominate Mrs. Alvanas. When I asked him why he told me he loves going to school every day. He said she is funny, nice, and makes learning fun. Every day when he gets home from school, he can’t stop talking about what they are learning in class. When he talks about school, his whole face lights up. During our parent-teacher conference, she told us he loves to quiz her on the presidents and he loves to stump people. I’m so lucky my son has an amazing teacher who goes above and beyond on a daily basis for her students. We can’t thank her enough for all the hard work and countless hours she puts in.”
