Dartmouth Sunrise Bakery Reopening with Both Original and New Items
Saturday, March 1 is the day Dartmouth has been waiting for, but some are still in disbelief.
If you're one of them, don't feel bad; you’re in the company of Sunrise Bakery owner Richard Freeman.
"I've been expecting this place to open since October, so I can't even say it out loud. I don't want to jinx it," Freeman said.

He left the big announcement to one of his managers, Carolina Soares, who previously worked for the original Sunrise Bakery. Soares confidently confirmed Saturday’s 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. opening. The employees have been hired, the menu has been updated, and they will be ready to go – albeit in a limited capacity – on Saturday.
"It's going to be a soft opening," Soares emphasized. "We will be focusing on the new menu items and the new systems we have in place. Things like the drive-thru and cake decorating won't be available yet. We will eventually offer them, but it’s going to take some time."

Will the Original Sunrise Recipes Be Used?
Yes. Owner Richard Freeman reassured fans that Manny and Joe Amaral, the original owners of Sunrise Bakery, are fully on board with the transition.
"They've been helping to train our new doughnut staff. The original doughnuts and pastries will be back," he said. "We just need a little more time to perfectly match what they had before. The good news is that we have the Amarals’ full support and guidance."
Dartmouth Sunrise Bakery Asking for Patience
Some customers are wondering if the original Sunrise frosting will return.
"We will get there with all the recipes, but we need patience from the community to help us bring back the 'old' Sunrise they knew," Freeman said. "I hope people don’t walk in on Saturday expecting everything to look and taste exactly the same right away. We're going to get there – it just takes time."
