When the viral "Lip-Sync Battle" torch was passed to the Dartmouth Police Department, they answered back in a different way.

With the recent horrific news of Yarmouth Officer Sean Gagnon and Weymouth Officer Michael Chesna, the DPD reached out to Dartmouth Community Television to help them with a special tribute.

The local men and women in blue chose the song "Tears in Heaven" by Eric Clapton to lip-sync to while paying their respects for all who have died in the line of duty.

"We decided that instead of answering the lip sync challenge, we would redirect our efforts to honor the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving their respective communities." -Dartmouth Police Department

The team collected video and images of those who gave their all, not knowing that the call made to protect their community would unfortunately and sadly be their last.

As mentioned earlier, this is not the traditional way the "lip-sync battle" has been played out, and for that, we are grateful to the entire staff over at the Dartmouth headquarters for reminding us that our local law enforcement are here to protect us, knowing that they are giving their all every time they are called out to make the community a better place to live.
